Annex I

Part of Pro Version. Five features come bundled with Pro — this is one of them.

What this does for you

Every time a customer is shown your cancellation terms at checkout, your store quietly saves a sealed copy — exactly what they saw, when they saw it, and how long they looked at it before placing the order. Months or years later, you can open any cancellation request in the admin and prove what the customer was told.

You don't change anything in your checkout. You don't ask customers to tick more boxes. The proof happens automatically in the background, and you only ever look at it if a question comes up.

Why it matters

The most common question in a cancellation dispute is "what did you tell the customer about cancellation when they bought from you?". Without proof, the answer is "we believe we showed them the standard text" — which doesn't hold up.

With Annex I, the answer becomes: "here's the exact text we showed, here's the moment they saw it, here's how many seconds before they clicked Place order". That's the difference between hoping you're in compliance and being able to demonstrate it.

This matters most in markets where regulators actively check pre-purchase information — Germany, France and the Netherlands in particular.

What your customer sees

Nothing. Annex I runs invisibly during checkout. The customer's experience is unchanged.

What you see in the admin

When you open any cancellation request, you get a new tab called Pre-Contract Proof:

Pre-Contract Information Proof tab showing the saved T&C snapshot (with publish date and version), the display event count and time-to-placement, and a table of display events with URL and timing

You see at a glance:

  • T&C Snapshot — the exact version of the cancellation text the customer was shown, with its publish date and locale (so you know which translation it was)
  • Display Events — how many times the customer saw it during checkout, the first and last time they saw it, and how many seconds passed before they placed the order
  • Display Event Chain — every individual moment the cancellation text appeared on screen during checkout, with the page URL

There's a View snapshot text link that opens the full saved text exactly as it was shown — useful when a customer disputes what they read.

Settings

Annex I has no settings of its own. It activates the moment you install the Pro Version and starts saving proof from the next customer's checkout onwards.

Proof is stored for 6 years from the order date — long enough to cover every EU statute of limitations for consumer disputes. Older records are not deleted automatically; if you need a cleanup policy, talk to support.

Orders placed before you upgraded to Pro will not have a Pre-Contract Proof tab. Only orders from the moment you upgrade onwards are covered.

When you'd use this

  • You sell to Germany, France or the Netherlands
  • A regulator has previously asked about your pre-purchase disclosures
  • You want to defend yourself against claims like "you never told me I could cancel"
  • You operate in any industry where audit and consumer protection bodies actively look at checkout pages

When the free version is enough

  • You sell only in jurisdictions where regulators don't check checkout disclosure
  • You've never had a customer or regulator question what was shown at checkout
  • You're a very low-volume store and the operational overhead isn't justified
